Dr. Kevin Velicaria, M.D., CCFP
Dr. Velicaria is an associate clinical professor at McMaster’s Department of Family Medicine, where he completed his Residency training in 2016. That same year he was chosen from amongst Canada’s Residents and Fellows, and awarded the national NextStep Leadership Award. He has a special interest in primary care mental health and its contributions to a person’s overall wellness with experience working in Alberta and Ontario.
Dr. Diana Dregoesc, M.D., CCFP
Dr. Dregoesc is a family physician in the Hamilton area. She completed her Residency in Michigan, from where she also received the excellence in mental health care award. Her special interests include mental health and preventative medicine.
Dr. Ari Schneider, M.D., CCFP
Dr. Schneider is originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. They completed medical school in 2015 and went on to complete their Family Medicine Residency at McMaster in 2017. They now practice in Hamilton and throughout the Greater Toronto Area, with interests in LGBTQ and mental health.
Dr. Hannah Hughes, M.D., CCFP
Dr. Hannah Hughes is a family physician in Hamilton. She trained in England and completed her residency in 2014. She moved to Canada in 2016 and has been practicing in Ontario since this time. Her particular interests are pre/post natal mental health and preventative medicine.
Dr. Charnelle Carlos, M.D., CCFP
Dr. Carlos is a Family Doctor with a special interest in mental health. She completed her medical training at the University of Toronto in 2015 and her residency at McMaster University in 2017, where she served as Chief Resident. She is currently completing the MDPAC (Medical Psychotherapy Association Canada) Psychotherapy Training Program. She looks forward to caring for you on CouchMD.
Lauren Hatton, MSW, RSW Psychotherapist
Lauren is a registered social worker, providing counselling and psychotherapy services throughout Ontario. While Lauren has training in many therapeutic interventions and utilizes a variety of techniques when working with an individual and their mental health concerns, her approach is always client-centred and strengths-based.
Dr. Abdulrahman Aboud, M.D., CCFP
Dr. Aboud is a Family Physician in the Mississauga area. He is fluent in English and Arabic. Dr Aboud completed his Family Medicine residency training at Michigan State University (MSU), and served as the Chief Resident and the Chief of the Obstetrics track in the Family Medicine Program. Dr. Aboud expanded his training to include mental health, prenatal and postnatal care.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Shafayeen, M.D., CCFP
Dr. Ahmed is a Family Physician from Burlington, Ontario with a passion for primary care mental health. He completed his medical training and Family Medicine residency program at McMaster University. He subsequently completed an enhanced skills program in Hospitalist Medicine and Rural Emergency Medicine through McMaster University. He has a special interest in Mental Health in Immigrant populations. Dr. Ahmed speaks English and Bengali fluently.
Dr. Meirui Li, M.D., CCFP
Dr. Meirui Li hails from Ottawa. She completed her medical degree at McMaster University and Family Medicine residency at Western University. During training, she worked mainly with patients in complex socioeconomic circumstances and became keenly aware of the psychosocial factors contributing to mental health. She has served on the Resident Doctors of Canada Wellness Committee, raising awareness on medical trainee mental health and burnout.
